In spite of the fact that government body HIQA did not recommend masks for under-13s they were introduced to primary schools. Thousands of outraged parents gathered in Dublin on Friday 3 December 2021 to object. The government did not put forward any scientific evidence that masks halt the spread of covid. Meanwhile parents and teachers  pointed to 47 studies showing that the masks make no difference and 37 studies showing that masks harm children. Meanwhile second and third-level students put up with masks for months on end for no good reason. Thankfully mask wearing in schools officially ended on February 28 for the present.
